Depeche Mode in Dresden, June 7 or takeover by Torsten & Robert

I could not come to the concert, so I ask two mates, which I often meet at concerts, if they write a report for me and they said yes. Yesterday in the evening I got their interesting and well written report with a few pictures.

I know Torsten and Robert since 2006. They are from Bremen, a small town in the north of Germany. But not too small, Depeche Mode played 5 times in Bremen. Last tour in Bremen I had a special evening with Dave. He saw me in the audience and pointed his finger at me and smiled. Then he tapped his heart and danced to " Just can't get enough" and looked at me all the time. That has really excited me.

Back to Torsten and Robert. They are well known for their sherbet vodka mix.... you have to try it !

Read their experience in Dresden:

Depeche Mode Dresden / 07.06.2017 / A report

At noon on the 7th of June, the two presented protagonists, made their way to Dresden star-shaped. Torsten from Frankfurt and Robert from Bremen. Everyone had a quiet and uneventful ride and we arrived at the hotel almost at the same time. Quickly the very spacious room occupied, Aparthotel am Schloss, we can recommend it. Then we swarmed out again. Parking the cars, buying alcohol, etc. The topic of sightseeing we have completely left out or done in passing. We were already in Dresden. Alone with Depeche Mode in the last 30 years already quite frequently. In the meantime, some concerts have been piling up since 1984, when our accounting is correct, the concert of tonight will  be number 176! We will reach the 200 on this tour! We had such fantastic evenings, we have met so many people and have learned to love them and so many stories have accumulated in our memories. But I'm starting to get bored and boredom will still play a big role here.

After we had done ourselves pretty - yes, that is now necessary - we made a short stop at the hotel Taschenbergpalais. The band members of our favorite chapel were apparently still on the spot, but could not be seen in the courtyard. So we used the premises for a small warm-up and some food intake. Sounds boring again, wait!

Then made our way to the fields fast. Yes, field. Thank God it has not rained in the last days, otherwise we could have started a mud slide and would have waded knee deep through the morass. Anyway, it was spared us. We didn't get a ligament tear by kicking in a rabbit hole. Dancing on an unpaved meadow is a big challenge, but we managed it flawless!

The sun went down so slowly and it was still pleasantly warm. Point 20:45h, it was time, the light did not go out, but the Beatles prepared us for the upcoming show. The thing with the light on open-air summer concerts is always very annoying. The elaborate Lightshow did not come true, very sad especially this time, because there was a lot of emphasis on programming. Fortunately, one or the other clouds rose above the cattle pasture and so it got dark relatively quickly.

The band presented themselves again in excellent condition. Very happy, documented by almost continuous grin of Dave. But he could not know how hard the evening would still be. In the first few minutes, the audience was very excited and sang the first two numbers from the new album, quite literally.

The mixer seems to have found the bass on his mixer, it was finally an excellent and balanced sound with "kaboom". The trousers legs blew with the beat. Very cool. The setlist, nothing has changed, so  we have to wait for the 2 Hannover concerts.

At "In your room" missed our favorite singer directly his entry, there was probably the teleprompter out of sight ...😜. Otherwise the band delivered a solid performance again. In other cities the audience in the Front of the stage area rocked  from the beginning, and the rest followed a bit later on the well-known songs, but that evening nobody moved. Only the hard core fans in front of the stage and the catwalk had fun and sang loud.

It went out of the front of the stage area to buy some drinks in the rear area. No one whipped his foot. Apparently, everyone was extremely bored. For whatever reason. Towards the end of "Home" usually all sing, or try it at least. From behind, however, the hard core fans was heard. That was almost creepy.

Dave really had to give everything, but he could only reach a part of the people there. Too bad, but the band tried. Towards the end of the concert, however, they could only laugh about it. We celebrated the concert neatly, we were also not between the hard core fans, the bystanders gave us incredulous glances.... terrible.

However, we had our fun and had a fantastic evening. So slowly all arrive on the tour, we could meet many old friends again.

We didn't have to wait for the rains, it started to rain with the addition. But long not as extreme as in Bratislava. The rain also seemed to stifle the last germ of enthusiasm in the audience.Still during "Heroes", the FOS area emptied dramatically and so "I Feel You" and "Personal Jesus" died in the dark night of Dresden.
We also went home very quickly, it was very lonely on the pasture. After a half-hour walk we arrived again at the hotel and hit the hay immediately, because next day we want to ride to Munich. Munich will hopefully not disappoint us. Good night!!!

Thank you Torsten and Robert. Was not easy for me to translate because they wrote very flowery.
Hope you all, including you both Torsten and Robert, will like it.

Was heavy to read this lines, because I saw Dave in front of my imaginary eyes. Poor man. He didn't deserve such a debacle. Come on Munich, give your best!

I will not be in Munich tonight, so my friend Melanie will write a report for Munich.
I have a small cold and have to stay at home. Looking forward to go to Hanover to see Depeche Mode two days in a row. Yeah!!!
