Depeche Mode in Barcelona or "Happy Birthday"!

I wish a happy and healthy new year!!!!
After very quiet christmas days with my family and some good friends I start busy into the new year.
I cleaned my whole apartment. Kind of early spring cleaning!!!
After that I made my book-keeping and then it was time to pack my bags for the last leg of the Depeche Mode Delta Machine Tour.
Amazing how the time is running.
First concert of the year was in Barcelona at January 15, my birthday!!
What a great birthday gift!!!
I had a great breakfast with my kids and then I left Cologne with a few good friends via airplane to Barcelona.
2 hours later and with 5 degrees more we started a walk through one of my favourite towns of Europe.
The city reflects the work of the architect Gaudi, wonderful inspiringly buildings, scultures and parcs.
It is not easily to describe, so look at the pictures and do me a favour if you can: visit Barcelona!!!
We had two wonderful days. The athmosphere is so friendly everywhere, I love it!
The arena : Palau St. Jordi is on the mountain Montjus, great view over the ocean and the city.
I had a wonderful birthday party with many friends and my favourite guy: Mr. Gahan.
The setlist was the same like the last leg, but it doesn't matter. I was very happy to sing and dance with the very young Catalan crowd. Nobody sat, nobody pushed, everybody was in a very peaceful mood. Best song was "Personal Jesus", Christian Eigner, the drummer, came from the clock, he was
always faster, haha, great!!
Dave sang very good and wiggled a lot with his bum, I'm sure specially for me ore maybe for Shakira.
She sat in the Viplounge with her boyfriend Piquet from Fc Barcelona !
Martin presented "Slow" in his typically slow way. He wore a T-Shirt with the inscription " free Paco now".
He supported a movement to help to get an innocent man free ( www.freepaconow.com).
All in all it was an unforgetable evening.
The next day we did our best to see the highlights of Barcelona: " Sagrada Familia, Parc Güell, Mercat de la Boqueria, the Ramblas, the port, la Barceloneta ( an old fisherman quarter ), the beach and the beachpromenade with the great fishsculpture from Frank Gehry, the Placa Reial.
We made two longer breaks to eat some spanish tapas and drink some wine.
Our conclusion is to come back in the near future to enjoy more Barcelona!!!!
There are so many places left we want to visit, oh dear!!!!
This morning we left our fantastic hotel ( Musik boutique hotel near the Placa Catalunya ) and Barcelona with some tears in our eyes. But now, we are in Madrid and we got our smile back.
Bigger, more monumental, metropolis, is Madrid a wonderful city, too and we have a hotel near the beautiful parc "Retiro".
Relaxing now a bit with a can of beer, writing my blog and loooking forward to the concert this evening here at Palacio de los Deportes!!!
Salud!!!
