So we took a train in a group of three and went to Milan.
The Italians have very modern trains, so we had a relaxed journey.
The trains can drive very fast.....
Arrival at the wonderful central station in Milan. What an unbelievable building.
Only the station it is worth to come to Milan.
But I was so many times in Milan, so this time there was no time for sightseeing. We decided to stay longer in Rome and Bologna as in Milan. So we went by tube to our small but comfortable Hotel " Portobello Minihotel" near the fairground and the San Siro stadium.
It is hard when you have to carry your luggage by yourself, lol!!!
After a small supper in our hotel ( we bought some typical italian goodies for dinner: tomatoes, olives, pickled vegetables for me and italian cheese and sausages for the boys and redwine for us all)
we were now ready for walking to the stadium. Another friend from Switzerland joined our group.
I'm a big fan of italian football, so this stadium is a special place for every friend of italian football.
It is an amazing building and I'm always in best mood when I have the possibility to visit it.
Warm up drink! Unluckely the same situation like in Rome: no unofficial merchandising...
Sold out. Look at this, it is like in a beehive. I wrote about this amazing building here in the blog 2013, where I saw the second best concert of the Delta Machine tour.
I asked myself, will be Milan this time better then Rome?
Now we got the chance to find out. Depeche Mode started as usual and I was happy to be there in time. We find a place near the catwalk, this time on the right side.
I love the color of the bracelets and great design. A friend said about me: " when you are in Italy you wear pink glasses", because I love everything the Italians do. But it is true love, believe me.
My another true love was in a very good mood, but they were a little bit surprised by this quieter reception as in Rome. Dave welcomed the stadium with a very loud "good evening, Milan", but the answer was a little bit cautiously.
So I used the opportunity to observe a few little things.
Someone has noticed the black dots that Dave painted on his fingers?
Someone said every dot is a family member of him....Don't know....
" Barrel of a gun", I love the end with the rap, very good idea.
" Pain that I used to" withe the jangle jellyfish and his bass.
"World in my eyes" and the master of pirouettes.
" in your room"...., the film distract from Dave's great performance. But I have now realized the meaning. Dave is the couple in the video, he and his microphone stand. Try not to look at the video and only to look at Dave!
This time we were very close to the catwalk and enjoyed his walk to " Cover me" so much.
Dave came back with "Poison heart". but there was no poison heart. We stood in a very nice community of Italian fans. They welcomed us very warm. Some of them were surprised, that we are Germans. Germans who loving they Italians.....not quite as normal specially in a football stadium.
" Where's the revolution?" Please look at Andy, he is the "train". He made moves with his left arm as if he were the locomotive.
Italians in the front row. Great idea!
" Everything counts" and from here on the conductor has his minions under control, we all hung on his lips, and from then on he sang every snippet to the end.
" Stripped".... it was so hot inside the stadium. In every meaning....
" Enjoy the silence". Very funny, but there was no silence, they break the silence, but they did not harm. "All ever wanted is here... in your" arms, italian arms.
Met so many wonderful people. We celebrated together, sang together and finally waved our arms together
After the break " Somebody".
And then : confusion...... we expected " Walkig in my shoes" but the screenings announced another song. Nothing happened for a while. A whisper went through the audience, we all could not grasp our happiness... but no, they played not " It's no good", they played " Walking in my shoes", the screens didn't show the video with the guy of Berlin, rather the band and we enjoyed the song the first time like on every tour. It is a great video but the song is so pure, you need nothing else than the band.
We met a great group of fans with self-made t-shirts for the show. They danced very wild, a kind of pogo. I went with and still have bruises everywhere.
" Try walking in my shoes".
Wonderful last three songs, I didn't take pictures the last three songs because I was in my element. I sang, danced, screamed.
The bee-purse emptied, all happily humming home. The landscape changed, it looked a bit like a space station. Maybe they were not fans, maybe they were aliens who sang like nobody else before.
Back in our hotel we celebrated a few time together and then it was time to sleep because in the next morning we had a rendevous with Leonardo....
The last supper of Leonardo da Vinci can be visited in Milan. It is a wall painting and only a few people are allowed to spend a quarter of an hour in the small room. It is very hard to get an appointment there, but we had already booked in advance and should be there in the morning at 8:15. I have visited it before, but it is and remains for me the most beautiful painting in the world. You can not make a good picture of it. Go and look at it. We had a card too much and could make a Russian woman very happy when we sold her this card.
So we enjoyed the last supper as a kind of last breakfast in Milan, before we had to leave in direction to Bologna by train again.
"Bo bo bo boooooh, bo bo bo boooh!" Good bye Milan, see you next time!
( Luckely Depeche Mode announced two shows for the winter leg, so I will be back soon!
